Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State has appointed 131 women to various political positions in the state.
Mr Bologi Ibrahim, the spokesman to the governor, stated that while his principal congratulated the appointees, he called on them to be dedicated and contribute their quota to the success of his administration’s policy thrusts.
He said 41 of the appointees were to serve as coordinators, just as the remaining 90 would serve as Senior Special Assistants (SSAs).
According to the statement, the appointments were in fulfilment of the governor’s campaign promises to allow women the chance to contribute to the building of the state.
“Following the appointment of these great women into his government, it’s on record that the Niger state government is one of the states that has appointed a large number of female aides into his government,” the statement said.
